One Dinner, Not Four
How to eat toward your goals without turning your kitchen into a restaurant with four difficult customers.

How to eat toward your goals without turning your kitchen into a restaurant with four difficult customers.
Fitness meal plans often behave as if everyone lives alone.
Real people have partners.
Children.
Teenagers.
Parents.
Picky eaters.
Different schedules.
And one kitchen.
The answer is not always four separate dinners.
The VanityStrong approach is to build one base meal and change the pieces.
The basic family formula
Choose one shared main meal.
Then adjust:
Protein amount.
Vegetable amount.
Starch amount.
Toppings.
Sauces.
Extras.
The person following the fitness plan gets the version that fits their goals.
Everyone else gets the same dinner arranged for them.
Taco night
Shared:
Protein or beans.
Tortillas.
Vegetables.
Salsa.
Cheese if desired.
Avocado.
Fitness version:
Prioritize protein and vegetables.
Choose the number of tortillas that fits hunger and goals.
Use toppings intentionally.
Child who hates vegetables:
Protein and tortilla are still the same dinner.
No second saucepan required.
Pasta night
Shared:
Pasta.
Tomato or another sauce.
Protein or beans.
Vegetables available separately.
Fitness version:
Use a satisfying pasta portion.
Add a substantial protein source.
Add vegetables.
Someone else wants extra pasta?
Excellent.
The pasta has survived the disagreement.
Burger night
Shared:
Burger or plant-based patty.
Buns.
Toppings.
Sides.
Fitness version:
Choose your preferred bun.
Add vegetables.
Pair with potatoes, salad, fruit, or another side.
Nobody must eat a sad burger wrapped in one wet lettuce leaf unless they genuinely enjoy that.
Stir-fry night
Use one pan.
Protein or tofu.
Vegetables.
Rice or noodles.
Sauce.
Different family members can change the rice-to-protein-to-vegetable ratio without requiring different meals.
Pizza night
Pizza can remain pizza.
Add a large salad, vegetables, fruit, lean protein, or another side if that helps create a more balanced meal.
Eat enough to be satisfied.
Move on with your life.
Breakfast for dinner
Eggs or tofu scramble.
Potatoes.
Whole-grain toast.
Fruit.
Vegetables.
Flexible, inexpensive, and easy to customize.
Picky eaters
Keep at least one familiar component on the table.
Do not force every ingredient into one casserole if half the house refuses casseroles.
Serve some components separately.
This is a meal-planning strategy, not a parenting philosophy.
Leftovers are part of the system
Cook extra protein.
Cook extra rice or potatoes.
Wash or prepare extra vegetables.
Tomorrow's lunch now exists.
Less decision-making is a feature.
