Getting started
How do I choose the right program?
Take the Fit Quiz. It asks nine plain questions about your goal, age range, schedule, equipment, where you train and any mobility limits, then recommends one or two programs and explains why each one fits. You can also browse all programs and read the full description of each.
What is the Fit Quiz?
A short questionnaire that matches you to a published program. It is a recommendation tool, not a health assessment, and it does not ask for medical details.
What is the difference between the 30, 60 and 90 day programs?
A 30-day program is a reset — rebuild the habit and remember what consistency feels like. A 60-day program targets a specific goal such as accessible strength or a steady start. A 90-day program is the full length, with progression across the whole plan.
Who are the Reset programs for?
People starting again after a break, or starting for the first time. They are 30 days, built around getting back into a rhythm rather than chasing a maximum effort.
Who is Sculpt 90 for?
People who want a full-length training block with progression over three months and are happy to train several times a week.
Who are the Prime 40+ programs for?
Women and men in their forties and beyond who want strength, muscle retention and mobility work written with midlife recovery and schedules in mind.
Who is Seated Strength 60 for?
Anyone who trains seated, or who wants chair-supported work. It is a complete 60-day program in its own right, not a reduced version of a standing program.
Who is Strong & Stable 90 for?
Active-aging training focused on functional strength, balance, stability and the everyday things you want to keep doing — stairs, carrying shopping, getting out of a chair.
Can I switch to a different program later?
Yes. Every program you buy stays in your account permanently, so you can move between the ones you own whenever you want. Buying a new program does not remove an old one.
Are the programs too hard for a complete beginner?
Every workout has a Gentle version, so a beginner has a real starting point. There is no permanent beginner label — you choose the lane each day.
Workouts & intensity
What are Gentle, Standard and Challenge?
Three versions of the same workout. Gentle uses less resistance, a smaller range of movement where needed and longer rest. Standard is the intended baseline. Challenge adds resistance, reps or complexity. Same session, three levels of demand.
Can I move between the lanes?
Yes, day to day. Challenge on Monday and Gentle on Friday is completely normal, and it is how the system is meant to be used.
I missed several workouts. Do I start the program over?
No. Pick up where you left off. There is no catch-up requirement and no penalty for a gap — restarting because life happened is a marketing idea, not a training one.
How hard should a set feel?
In plain English: Standard should feel like solid work where you could have done one or two more good reps. Gentle should feel comfortably manageable. Challenge can feel genuinely hard while your form still looks like the instructions.
What about rest days?
Rest days are scheduled in the plan on purpose. They are part of the program, not time off from it.
I am sore after a session. Is that normal?
General muscle soreness for a day or two after new work is common, especially early on. Sharp, sudden, unusual or worsening pain is different — stop that movement and read our safety answers below.
How do I progress?
Change one thing at a time — a little more weight, or a rep or two more, or a harder variation — while your form stays good. The program tells you when to progress.
Can I swap an exercise I cannot do?
Yes. Exercises in your purchased program list substitutions that train the same thing a different way, along with easier and harder variations.
Does the exercise order matter?
Generally yes — sessions are sequenced so the harder work happens while you are fresh. If you need to reorder because of a busy gym, it is not a disaster.
How long does a session take?
Most sessions are written around 30 to 45 minutes, and each day in the plan shows an estimated time.
Should I add walking or cardio?
Walking is welcome alongside any program and is an easy way to add activity without cutting into recovery. Add it gradually rather than all at once.
Can I train at home instead of a gym?
Yes. Each program lists where it works and the equipment it needs, and several are written for home training.
What does 3 × 8–12 mean?
It means 3 sets of 8 to 12 repetitions. Do 8–12 controlled reps, rest for the time shown, and repeat until you have completed 3 sets. You do not need to reach 12 on every set; any number inside the range can be valid when your form stays good.
Equipment & accessibility
What equipment do I need?
It depends on the program, and every program page lists its equipment before you buy. Several need very little — a chair, a wall and some space, or a pair of dumbbells or a band.
Do you have fully seated workouts?
Yes. Seated Strength 60 is a complete seated and chair-supported program, and seated options appear elsewhere in the catalogue.
Can I use a chair or wall for support?
Yes. Chair-supported and wall-supported versions are a normal part of how exercises are written, not an apology.
I cannot get down to the floor easily. Is that a problem?
No. Programs that rely on floor work say so, and exercises offer standing, seated or supported alternatives where that is possible.
I use a mobility aid. Can I train?
Many people do. Our adaptive programs are written for seated and supported training. We cannot tell you whether a specific plan suits your specific situation — that is a conversation for you and your clinician.
Is the site usable with large text or screen readers?
It is built for it: clear headings, labelled forms, keyboard navigation, strong contrast and large touch targets. If something does not work for you, tell us through the contact form.
Are adaptive programs watered-down versions?
No. They are written as their own complete programs with their own progression, not somebody else's workout with a chair added afterwards.
Midlife & active aging
Is strength training safe and useful over 40?
Strength training is widely recommended for adults of all ages, and our 40+ programs are written with midlife recovery, sleep and schedules in mind. If you have a medical condition, check with your clinician first.
I am in perimenopause or menopause. Do you have programs for that?
Our 40+ programs account for changing recovery, energy and joint comfort. We do not treat, balance or manage hormones, and we make no medical claims — for symptom treatment, speak to a qualified clinician.
Will training fix my hormones?
We will not claim that. Training can support strength, function and general wellbeing. Anything to do with hormone testing or treatment belongs with a healthcare professional.
I am a man over 40 with less energy than I used to have. Can you help?
We can give you a structured strength program written for midlife recovery. We cannot diagnose low testosterone or any other medical cause, and we will not pretend otherwise. If something feels medically wrong, get it checked.
I am 65 or older. Where should I start?
Strong & Stable 90 is our active-aging program — functional strength, balance and stability. Seated Strength 60 is a good option if standing work is difficult.
What does active-aging training actually work on?
Strength for everyday tasks, balance and stability, joint-friendly movement and confidence. Success might be carrying the shopping again or getting out of a chair without pushing off the arms.
Safety
How do I tell normal effort from a problem?
Effort feels like working muscles, heavier breathing and fatigue that settles. Sharp, sudden, unusual or worsening pain is a signal to stop that movement — that is the rule we use throughout every program.
When should I stop a workout?
Stop if your form clearly breaks down, if pain is sharp, sudden, unusual or getting worse, or if you feel unwell.
What if I get chest pain, dizziness or unusual shortness of breath?
Stop immediately and seek urgent medical care. Emergency symptoms need emergency services — call your local emergency number. Do not send them to our support inbox.
Should I talk to a doctor before starting?
Talk to a qualified healthcare professional first if you are pregnant or recently postpartum, managing a medical condition, recovering from injury or surgery, or simply unsure whether exercise is appropriate for you.
Is VanityStrong medical care?
No. Everything here is fitness and general wellness education. It is not diagnosis, treatment, physical therapy or personal clinical advice, and it does not replace your clinician. Never stop or change prescribed medication because of anything you read here.
Can support tell me why my knee hurts?
No. Support can explain how a program works, how an exercise is meant to be performed, and anything to do with your account or billing. We cannot diagnose an injury or prescribe treatment — that needs a qualified professional who can actually examine you.
Real-life modes
What are real-life modes?
Built-in adjustments for the weeks that do not go to plan — Bad Week, Vacation, No Equipment, Low Energy, Travel Re-entry and returning after illness. They change the workout instead of treating your life as a failure.
I am going on holiday. What do I do?
Use Vacation mode for shorter, equipment-light sessions, and Travel Re-entry when you come back. The goal is sustainable control, not perfection while you are away.
This week has been terrible. Is there a minimum version?
Yes — Bad Week and Low Energy modes give you a shorter session that still counts. Something short beats an abandoned week.
I have no equipment right now.
No Equipment mode swaps the session for bodyweight and household-object versions of the same work.
Should I catch up on the workouts I missed?
No. Do not double up to catch up. Carry on from where the plan is and let the progression do its job.
How do I handle restaurants and family meals?
Our free guides cover both — one base dinner adapted for the household, and practical restaurant choices. No food is a moral failure, and a slice of birthday cake does not end a program.
Account & access
Do I need an account before I buy?
No. Buy first. Your purchase is attached to the email you use at checkout, and an account is matched or created for you automatically.
Where do I find what I bought?
In your dashboard, under Your Programs, as soon as the purchase completes. Access does not depend on an email arriving.
How long do I keep access?
Permanently. Programs are a one-time purchase and stay in your account. There is no subscription to cancel.
I lost the receipt email with my link.
It does not matter. Sign in with the email you used at checkout and everything you own is in your dashboard.
I cannot sign in.
Use the forgot-password link on the sign-in page to set a new password, or sign in with Google, Apple or Microsoft if that is how you first signed up. Use the same email address you used at checkout.
Can I use my account on more than one device?
Yes. Sign in on a phone, tablet or computer — it is the same account and the same programs.
Can I change my email address or preferences?
You can update your display name, units, goals, workout location, equipment, session length and accessibility preferences in your profile. To change your sign-in email, message support.
Can I accidentally buy the same program twice?
If you are signed in and already own a program, the page shows 'you already own this' with a link to open it instead of a buy button, and the server checks ownership again before granting access.
Billing & purchases
Is this a subscription?
No. Every program is a single one-time purchase with permanent access.
Who handles the payment?
Checkout is handled by Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for our orders. Paddle processes the payment, handles applicable tax, and supports returns. We never see or store your card details.
Do I get a receipt?
Yes — a receipt email with the program name, amount, order number and a sign-in link. Paddle also sends its own payment confirmation.
When does my program appear?
Immediately after payment completes. If it has not appeared within a few minutes, message support with the email you used at checkout.
I think I was charged twice.
Contact support with the order numbers and we will get a duplicate charge refunded. Duplicate billing is always refundable.
What currency are prices in?
Prices are shown in US dollars. Your bank or card issuer converts to your local currency at their rate.
Refunds
What is the refund policy?
14 days on standard digital program purchases. Ask within 14 days of buying and you get your money back — no sob story required. The full policy is on our refund policy page.
How do I request a refund?
Request it through Paddle at paddle.net, since Paddle is the Merchant of Record, or message us and we will start it for you.
What if I am outside the 14 days?
Technical failure, non-delivery, duplicate billing and major defects are refundable regardless of the window. Beyond that we look at it case by case.
What about my local consumer rights?
Mandatory consumer rights where you live always apply and always override our policy. Nothing in our terms takes those away.
Printing & downloads
Can I print my program instead of using a screen?
Yes. Pages are built with print-friendly styling so a program or a single week prints cleanly from your browser.
Are there PDFs?
Our free guides are available as polished PDFs after you enter your email. Purchased program content is read online and printed from the page.
If content is corrected, does my printout go out of date?
It can. Safety corrections and improvements are made to the online version first, so check online if something looks different from your printout.
Is the printed version easy to read?
It is designed to be: large type, clear headings and no tiny grey text. If a page prints badly for you, tell us which one.
Progress
Do I have to weigh myself?
No. Weight is entirely optional and it is never the only definition of success here.
What else can I track?
Measurements such as waist, hips, chest, arms and thighs, strength and reps, energy, sleep, mobility, how clothes fit, and how many sessions you actually completed.
Are progress photos shared with anyone?
No. Anything you record about your body is private to your account. It is not published and it is never sent to advertising platforms.
How much will I lose?
We will not give you a number. Anyone promising a specific number of pounds or inches in a specific time is guessing. What we can promise is a structured plan and clear instructions.
What counts as progress if the scale has not moved?
More reps, heavier weight, better range of movement, easier stairs, better sleep, a waist measurement that changed, and the number of workouts you completed. All of it counts.
Free guides & Learn
Are the free guides really free?
Yes. You can read every guide in full on the site without giving an email address. The email is only for the printable PDF version.
I entered my email and the PDF did not arrive.
The download link appears on the page straight away, so you can grab it without waiting for the email. Check spam if the email is missing, then contact support.
What is in the Learn library?
Articles on strength, nutrition, midlife training, adaptive fitness, active aging, recovery and the fitness myths that will not die. All free, all searchable, no email required.
How do I stop marketing emails?
Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Transactional messages — receipts, password resets and support replies — still go out, because they relate to your account.
Privacy & accessibility
What do you store in my profile?
Non-sensitive preferences only: display name, language, units, timezone, goals, workout location, equipment, preferred session length and accessibility preferences. No diagnoses, medications or medical history.
Where does sensitive health information go?
Any health answers you choose to give are stored separately with restricted access, and they are never sent to advertising platforms or ordinary analytics.
Should I describe my medical condition in the contact form?
Please do not. Keep support messages to program, account and billing questions. We cannot give medical advice, and detailed medical information does not belong in a support inbox.
Something on the site is hard to use. Who do I tell?
Message us through the contact form on this page and say which page and what happened. Accessibility problems are treated as bugs, not requests.
How do I request deletion of my data?
Email info@vanitystrong.com or use the contact form. Our privacy policy explains what we hold, why, and how deletion requests are handled.
Emergencies are not a support question
Chest pain, severe dizziness, fainting or unusual shortness of breath need urgent medical care. Call your local emergency number — do not wait for an email reply. Support can help with programs, access and billing. It cannot diagnose an injury or prescribe treatment.
Still stuck? Write to us.
Billing, account access, program questions — send it over and we'll get back to you by email.
Not medical advice. VanityStrong provides fitness and general wellness education. It does not diagnose, treat or replace care from a qualified healthcare professional. If you are pregnant, managing a medical condition, or unsure whether exercise is appropriate for you, talk to your doctor first.
